Reflecting on the Globalization of Passive Climate Control - The Case of Santiago de Chile

With the need to reduce resources consumption, cities have to engage their energy transitions and the building sector is undergoing a quality improvement in how to heat/cool more efficiently. Alongside the privatization of environmental institutions, we can ask ourselves what is the goal of the agencies promoting climate control and what do they build their expertise on. An homogeneous indoor climate has now spread all over the globe, even if it has been challenged by some authors advocating for more differentiated thermal conditions in architecture. I will present Santiago's case in the light of the debates on comfort and/or performance.
